Todo listo para la entrega de los Critics’ Choice Awards 2021, importantes premios precursores al Oscar.
Fundada en 1995, la Critics’ Choice Association (CCA) es una organización conformada por cientos de críticos y la más grande en todo Estados Unidos y Canadá. El año pasado, su premio a Mejor Película fue para “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” de Quentin Tarantino.
Las votaciones para encontrar a los nominados al Oscar 2021 ya están abiertas y los Critics’ Choice Awards 2021 representan una oportunidad importante para obtener visibilidad en este crucial momento.
“Nomadland” fue la gran ganadora de la velada, pues se llevó cinco premios incluyendo Mejor Película, Dirección y Guion Adaptado. “Promising Young Woman” obtuvo un par de premios importantes rumbo al Oscar: Mejor Guion Original y Mejor Actriz para Carey Mulligan.
Daniel Kaluuya (“Judas and the Black Messiah”) y Chadwick Boseman (“Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”) obtuvieron el Critics’ Choice y se consolidaron como favoritos a ganar el Oscar en sus respectivas categorías. Mientras tanto, Maria Bakalova obtuvo una victoria muy valiosa en Mejor Actriz de Reparto, justo a tiempo para intentar convencer a miembros de la Academia.
La ceremonia de entrega fue larga, aburrida e incluso ofensiva, pues le dieron tiempo a chistes malos, pero no a categorías importantes como Guión Original, Guión Adaptado y Película Extranjera; la omisión de tiempo para este último premio es un testimonio de lo poco que le importa el cine con subtítulos a la crítica estadounidense.
