Se llevaron a cabo los Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2021 (HMMA) que reconocen lo mejor del mundo musical en la industria cinematográfica.
Aún no sabemos con certeza sobre la calidad de “Don’t Look Up” de Adam McKay, pero si existe un compositor certero, ese es Nicholas Britell quien se impuso en la categoría de Mejor Score. Esto podría catapultarlo a la conversación de Oscar.
Alguien que luce como favorito a la estatuilla dorada es Hans Zimmer, quien se llevó el HMMA 2021 a Mejor Score en Película de Fantasía/Sci-Fi por “Dune”. Cuatro de los últimos ganadores de este premio han pasado a la lista de finalistas de la Academia y dos han ganado el Oscar (“The Shape of Water” y “Black Panther”).
Hace tres años, Marco Beltrami llegó a la lista de finalistas del Oscar a Mejor Score Original gracias a “A Quiet Place” y eso podría ocurrir de nuevo, ahora con su trabajo en la secuela, mismo que se llevó Mejor Score en Película de Terror. Mientras tanto, en la categoría de animación tuvimos la sorpresiva victoria de Mychael Danna y Jeff Danna por “The Addams Family 2”, derrotando a la música de “Luca” y “Vivo”.
Ojo con Bryce y Aaron Dessner, quienes se llevaron el galardón por “C’Mon C’Mon” y podrían meterse en la lista de nominaciones. Además, la siempre confiable mano derecha musical de Almodóvar, Alberto Iglesias, se llevó el triunfo en la categoría Extranjera por “Madres paralelas”.
En las categorías de canción original, Billie Eilish disipó cualquier duda sobre su candidatura al Oscar obteniendo el HMMA 2021 de Mejor Canción Original en Largometraje por la homónima “No Time to Die”. Seis de las últimas siete canciones ganadoras en esta categoría han sido nominadas al Oscar y dos de ellas han ganado. Recordemos también que las últimas dos canciones del 007 han obtenido el Oscar. ¿Podrá Eilish mantener la estadística?
Adam Levine también fue premiado por su canción “Good Mood” de “Paw Patrol” pero la historia interesante reside en “CODA”, película que obtuvo oxígeno puro al llevarse Mejor Canción en Película Independiente y Mejor Performance de la mano de su intérprete y protagonista Emilia Jones.
