El musical “In the Heights” obtuvo los premios de Mejor Película, Mejor Actor y Mejor Dirección en los HCA Midseason Awards 2021 de la Hollywood Critics Association.
La crítica de Los Angeles también le otorgó un par de premios a “A Quiet Place Part 2”: Mejor Actriz para Millicent Simmonds y Mejor Actor de Reparto para Cillian Murphy. Mejor Guion fue para el filme animado de Netflix “The Mitchells vs. the Machines” y Mejor Película Indie se quedó para “Werewolves Within”, adaptación del videojuego del mismo nombre.
Naturalmente no hay mucha incidencia de los HCA Midseason Awards rumbo a la venidera temporada de premios, pero sí nos deja ver algo que ya se viene gestando: “In the Heights” es muy popular y tiene el apoyo de la crítica. De todas las películas lanzadas hasta ahora en 2021, el musical de Jon M. Chu tiene las mejores posibilidades de llegar hasta el Oscar.
