Se llevó a cabo la entrega de los Cinema Eye Honors 2021, premios que reconocen las mejores películas de no ficción (documentales).
“Collective” de Alexander Nanau se llevó la presea máxima de Mejor Documental. mientras que Kirsten Johnson obtuvo Mejor Dirección por “Dick Johnson is Dead”.
Desde su incepción en 2008, solo dos ganadores de Mejor Documental en los Cinema Eye han fracasado en obtener la nominación al Oscar, es decir que “Collective” parece tener su lugar seguro este año. La victoria de Johnston la pone de nuevo en la pelea por la nominación. Asimismo, hubo otros excelentes documentales que fueron premiados.
“Welcome to Chechnya” también tuvo una gran noche llevándose a casa Mejor Producción y Mejor Documental para Televisión. “Time” obtuvo el merecido premio a Mejor Edición, “Boys State” se llevó el Premio de la Audiencia y “The Truffle Hunters” se quedó con Mejor Fotografía. También hubo victoria con sabor latino gracias a la victoria de “El agente topo” en Mejor Banda Sonora.
La ceremonia de premiación se transmitió de manera virtual en el Facebook Live de Cinema Eye Honors y, a pesar de algunas dificultades con el video, todo fue bastante ameno y ligero. Hubo camaradería y mucho amor entre nominados y nominadas. Además, siempre es lindo celebrar a los documentales
