“Crip Camp” (Campamento extraordinario) se llevó el reconocimiento a Mejor Documental en los prestigiosos IDA Documentary Awards 2020. Fue uno de los siete premios que se llevó Netflix en una velada muy fructífera.
Pasados ganadores de Mejor Documental en los IDA incluyen “For Sama”, “Minding the Gap” y “O.J. Made in America”, todos nominados al Oscar, misma distinción que probablemente obtenga “Crip Camp”, documental que habla sobre la lucha por los derechos de personas discapacitadas en Estados Unidos.
Netflix también obtuvo reconocimientos por Mejor Corto para “John Was Trying to Contact Aliens”, Mejor Edición y Guion para “Dick Johnson is Dead”, Mejor Música y el Premio Pare Lorentz 2020 para “My Octopus Teacher” y Mejor Serie Episódica para “Last Chance U”. Todo esto es un reflejo de la enorme inversión que ha realizado el gigante del streaming por exhibir documentales de calidad, algo que a su vez es una respuesta ante el interés positivo de las audiencias.
