Se anunciaron las nominaciones a los Satellite Awards 2023, premios otorgados por la International Press Academy (IPA).
“Top Gun: Maverick” lidera los Satellite Awards 2023 con 10 nominaciones, seguida de “Babylon”, “Elvis” y “The Fabelmans”, todas con 9 menciones cada una. Todas, a excepción de “Babylon”, están nominadas a Mejor Película en alguna de sus divisiones (Drama y Comedia/Musical).
Los Satellite Awards no son premios con gran relevancia o influencia en la carrera al Oscar, sin embargo son buenos indicadores de las películas que están haciendo ruido o que tienen visibilidad, particularmente en categorías técnicas y en Mejor Película Internacional.
Este año, la IPA nos ofrece una lista muy interesante con algunas gratas sorpresas. “RRR” obtuvo cinco nominaciones, incluyendo Mejor Película, Canción Original y Efectos Visuales; la película sigue apareciendo en listas de premios y eso significa que ha tenido amplia visibilidad.
Otra nominación inspirada es la de “Good Night Oppy”, sobre el explorador marciano de la NASA, en Mejores Efectos Visuales: siempre es lindo que se reconozca al documental en otras categorías. Asimismo, es bueno ver a Vicky Krieps y Emma Thompson nominadas a Mejor Actriz por “Corsage” y “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande” respectivamente, así como la extraordinaria “Inu-Oh” en Mejor Película Animada, la cinta irlandesa “The Quiet Girl” en la categoría Internacional y la indie “A Love Song” en Diseño de Producción.
